Affective Liminal Psychology™

Emotion-Based Change

In behavior change, the focus is often on altering actions.

Affective Liminal Psychology (ALP), on the other hand, focuses on working with the emotional drivers that provide the motivation for change.

The foundation of the This Naked Mind methodology is based on Affective Liminal Psychology™ (ALP), the science of the self's system.

The Liminal Space

The liminal space in our mind is the area between our conscious everyday decisions and the subconscious thoughts and emotions that drive them.

Awareness of the thoughts and feelings behind your actions creates the opportunity to change behavioral patterns.

Behavior

Behavior only reveals “the tip of the iceberg.” We are driven by a multitude of subconscious narratives, thoughts, and emotions.

Becoming aware of your own self-system creates space for making more intentional choices — space to respond, rather than simply react.

The coach's role is to bring your attention to the knowledge and tools you can use to support yourself in your process. In doing so, autonomy is built, empowering you to independently work toward your own goals and desires.

The Subconscious

In the subconscious, memories, emotions, and our individual mindset reside.

Narratives and unspoken truths take root here, and we are often not even aware of the thoughts that exist within our subconscious.
